On 13 November 2024, the Notre Dame Science Club had the honor of hosting a captivating workshop on “Nuclear Physics”, featuring the esteemed Mohammad Sayem Mahmood, Chief Scientific Officer at the Institute of Nuclear Science & Technology, Bangladesh Atomic Commission. Held in Room 301, Harrington Building, the workshop attracted around 350 participants, all eager to explore the fascinating world of nuclear physics. Dr. Mahmood shared not only the fundamental principles of nuclear reactions, atomic structure, and the transformative applications of nuclear science but also valuable insights from his own career. His personal experiences in the field provided students with a deeper understanding of how nuclear physics shapes industries like energy and healthcare, sparking curiosity and motivation for their own futures.
The workshop was further enriched by the presence of Vincent Titas Rozario sir, the moderator of the Notre Dame Science Club, whose continuous support and mentorship made this session possible. Alongside our dedicated EC members and organizers, who worked tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly, the event created a dynamic environment for learning.
To make the session even more memorable, participants were treated to a refreshing snack arrangement, adding a warm touch to the event. This workshop provided an excellent opportunity for students to not only widen their understanding of nuclear physics but also ignite their passion for exploring scientific fields and careers that shape the future of technology and innovation. The chance to interact with Dr. Mahmood and hear about his career journey provided a unique perspective, encouraging students to think critically about their own paths in the world of science.
